Weekend Finds: The Weekender Travel Bag

UPDATE: I couldn't resist! The Key Largo Weekender will make its way onto my doorstep in just a few days ;). No code needed for FREE three-day shipping at Shopbop.

My best friends and I have been planning a weekend trip to the lake house for a few months now. There's nothing more exciting for me than packing for a relaxing couple of days, but I ran into some issues finding the perfect weekend bag. My small Vera Bradley duffel I used during my trips in college, just doesn't cut it any more. Here are just a few weekenders I've considered purchasing:

What do you take with you on your weekend trips?

Trending: Camouflage Printed

Over the last few weeks, I've had a little obsession with camouflage. I would've never thought about wearing a hint of camo, if the stylish bloggers I follow didn't mix and match the print so well. Here's a round up of my six favorite camouflage-inspired looks:

Black Sequins + Silver Pumps styled by Jessye

Emerald Green + Boots styled by Darya

Bling + Bourdeaux styled by Kimberly

Blue Blazer + Ankle Boots styled by Negin

Leather + Breton Stripes styled by Jessy

Crochet + Mary Janes styled by the Fahionalble Esquire

Old Navy is a treasure trove for camo printed clothing. If you haven't visited the store, quickly make sure you do, before they sell out of the popular pieces you see below. I've fallen in love with their latest Spring collection. It's jam-packed with prints of all kinds, including the season's essential hues... whites and brights!

There's nothing worse that walking in the rain and getting the outfit you spent all morning putting together...wet. Especially if you're on your way to a brunch date! (Sad, sad story I don't need to tell.) Spring is finally here and for most of us, this means a lot of rain. Here are some cute rainy day essentials to keep you dry and stylish, of course!

Sale Alert: Shop "The Sale" at Anthropologie

I rarely purchased anything at retail price. I'm the type of bargain gal to wait a few weeks until it's on sale, before I hit the purchase button. I know, I know... definitely takes a bit of discipline! It's hard to say "no" to that pair of heels that could possibly sell out of my size, before the price drops (it's happened way too often). But none-the-less, this is how I stay on budget and continue to be able to shop for those favorites on my wish list. In the last few days, I've been obsessed with Anthropologie. I try to take advantage of their sales when I can. If you haven't visited the online boutique lately, be sure to take a look. You won't want to miss out on such a treat!

1. Stripemaze Dress / $99.95
3. Lou Trousers / $29.95
5. Tiri Cargo Pants / $29.95
6. Caroline Sweater / $59.95

Friday Finds: All Under $35

The best part about Friday is making plans for the weekend ahead. I've had such a crazy last two weeks, my schedule is completely clear. On purpose, of course! I plan on doing absolutely nothing, but sitting by the pool with my iPad and catching up on episodes of Scandal and House of Cards. Oh, and I may or may not treat myself to a few items on my wallet-friendly wish list ;)

Weather-Ready: The Trench Coat

Living in the Florida sunshine most of my life, never required me to have a true winter jacket...let a lone a tench coat. I get by with a really thick sweater and borrow a peacoat from my mother when the weather gets unbearable. Due to my frequent work trips to New York, I've been trying to grow my coat closet over the last few weeks. Believe it or not, it actually helps that I live in the South. The sales are amazing this time of year (thank you Macy's)! But nobody told me how difficult it was to find a trench coat that fits. Anyone else have this problem? Too short, too long, roomy in the shoulders...the list goes on. After many trips to the mall, a ridiculous number of online orders, and more returns than I typically make in a year, I think I might have drilled-down my decision to these five styles:

 one / two / three / four / five

Although this experience has been exhausting (to say the least), I did learn a few things to keep in mind when shopping for a trench:
  1. Size - If you're planning to wear your trench coat year-round, be sure to consider sizing up. During the winter months, you be wearing thicker clothing, so you'll want to allow yourself a little bit of wiggle room.
  2. Fabric - Many of my favorite coats were 100% cotton. Although some cotton blends (i.e. ventile) can be spun very fine, this is typically not good if you're looking for something rain-resistant. A mixture of polyester is a sure sign your trench can be worn in the rain or shine.
  3. Details - High-end designers tend to focus a lot on style versus function and durability. Check zippers, buttons, cords, etc. to ensure they can hold up for years to come. I fell in love with a knee-length, black coat made by Michael Kors, but had to return it, because the gold buttons and zipper were made of a light plastic that was bound to break.

Do you have difficulty finding coats that fit?
